October has become a spooktacular month in the life of our congregation through our worship, study and fellowship. The Story continues to be an inspiring means of deeper scriptural understanding and a tool for building unity among our congregants. Several times this month we have gathered around the table for fellowship and food and we have celebrated our audacious faith through our pledges of time, talent and treasure. This Saturday, October 24 is another fabulous chance to get connected with all generations of our community at our Spooktacular Halloween Carnival in our fellowship hall from 4-8 PM. Games, prizes and treats for everyone who comes.
This week in our worship and study we will experience Israel as a nation entering its adolescence and testing new identities that are often in direct opposition to what God desires for his people. Chapter 10 of The Story and the first chapters of 1 Samuel introduce us to the final judge, the prophet Samuel and to the first King, Saul as we learn about faithfulness, conformity and obedience. We all face pressures everyday to try to fit in, to be a joiner, to worship the idols of culture and sometimes forget to trust God and his guidance but the good news is that God allows us to turn back to him over and over and over again! People of God (that’s you) let’s gather for worship this Sunday and receive mercy and grace!
