Calling Out to You…Weekly Update

It was such a thrill to come back from vacation to such great reports about the most recent church work party and all the enthusiasm and energy being generated as we enter more deeply into the new year. The persistent beat of the heart of God continues to encourage and inform our activities and work throughout our community and beyond.  The members and friends of our congregation are seeking opportunities to express their faith in their actions of love and support for the people in their lives and we are becoming a richer community for it.

As I look forward to worship on Sunday I am so thankful to have a place to gather with our community, a place to share stories of struggles and triumph, stories of doubt and faith, of sorrow and joy and to know that not only is God listening but so is my neighbor who can give and receive care and comfort.  Together, this week we will explore how God speaks to us as we are called into a deep relationship with Christ just as Philip and Nathanael were in John 1:43-51, “Come and see,” (John 1:46)

On January 23-24, our church leaders including elders, deacons and staff members will be participating in our annual leadership retreat as we work together to determine God’s continued vision and will for our family of faith and build upon our strengths and blessings.  Our annual congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, January 25 following worship for the purpose of presenting an annual report to the congregation including budget information, electing members to the Nominations Committee and approving the pastoral salary.

The Youth Ministry Department is pleased to be partnering with the Anaheim Police Department in presenting a forum for parents and caregivers on Understanding Social Media, Technology and Your Teen on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Click this link for information,  Feel free to share this information with friends, family, co-workers, carpoolers, etc.

As a final step in our pastoral transition process, Sunday, February 8 at 3:00 PM will be a special installation worship service with a reception to follow.  Please refer to the attached invitation.

Don’t forget about Mission Monday on January 19 at Don Jose’s – our refrigerator decided to freeze our food solid so I know we will be there!!  Finally, if you need more information about upcoming events check out our newsletter,

In His Service,
