As we head into the hot August nights of summer enthusiasm continues to grow in our congregation for the many opportunities for service, spiritual formation and community connections. As we kick off this month I am pleased to announce that our spontaneous collection of loose change in worship netted $75 in additional contributions which enabled our church to make a donation to Presbyterian Mission Gifts to assist with a Rainwater Catchment System for drought prone areas in our world. With our donation rainwater becomes a precious resource as it is collected, stored and filtered properly so it can be used for irrigation and washing.
This Sunday our congregation is blessed to have Lyndsay Felps and her family visiting with us. Lyndsay was a child of our congregation who now lives in Texas and just recently completed an 11 month – 11 country mission trip around the world. Many in our congregation followed along with her blog and facebook as she and her team worked with those in need of support and faith. Lyndsay will be sharing a Moment for Mission with us on Sunday in worship and then will be sharing more about her journey in the fellowship hall following worship – of course snacks will be provided! We will also be celebrating communion on Sunday in worship as we hear Jesus proclaim that he is the bread of life in John’s gospel.
Thank you for all your prayers of support for our upcoming Story series. Our materials will be arriving on Monday, August 3 so we could use some helpers prepare the materials for distribution on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday during the day or evening. Contact the church office if you can help. Check out How The Story helps with Bible reading.
