Holy Guacamole Sunday!

Last evening many in our congregation experienced a contemplative beginning to the Lent Season with an Ash Wednesday service.  We lifted our prayers, renewed our commitment to spiritual discipline and were encouraged to find new places to give of ourselves.  The Lenten Season invites us all into a reflective stance so that we might enjoy anew the splendor of community and the richness of faith.  All are invited to travel this journey toward the cross through our worship and our study and our giving together. Ideas for creating some sacred space during Lent can be found on the attached calendar.

This Sunday we have many special elements planned for our collective worship including the reception of new members and an introduction to the One Great Hour of Sharing with Fish Banks for the children. Our Lenten focus will be on Jesus’ experience in the desert for 40 days and the temptations he faced.  We all face difficulties and temptations as well and maybe feel like we are lost in the desert at times so in worship we will be encouraged to work on our readiness in faith.

Following worship we will be continuing of February food theme with our Mexico Mission Taco Bar kick off.  Please join our family of faith for tacos and fellowship as we prepare for our mission work in Mexico. Learn more about this year’s project through the attached brochure or just click to our web site.

Our Facility Committee is always hard at work maintaining and improving our church campus and they could use your help after you munch on a few tacos on Sunday.  We have some brand new rubberized mulch that has been delivered for our playground area and we need some extra hands to move that mulch to the playground.  If we have at least 10 volunteers it should only take about 20 minutes!  Permission to wear your grubbies to worship granted!

Beginning the week of March 9 our Adult Education Team will be hosting a weekly study based on Adam Hamilton’s devotional, “24 Hours That Changed the World” based on the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life.

In His Service,

Rev. Lissa Smith
