The dog days of summer can’t get us down! Our senior high students and a handful of adult advisors have been experiencing an inspiring week at the Montreat Youth Conference as they have been worshipping and exploring and serving together in the beautiful Black Mountain region of North Carolina. Can’t wait to hear all the wonderful stories!
Speaking of stories, we had a great team of volunteers who helped prepare and package all our materials that arrived this week for The Story. Many thanks to the Lewis clan – Malia, Jack, Michael and Jonathan, Marvel Bartley, Kathy Mills, Cathy Dyla, Jan Oosten, Rosie Gilbert, Laura Kidd and Debi and Jackson Ohman. All books and other material are ready for pick up in the fellowship hall following worship this week! See the picture above of what is waiting for you!!
Daily prayers for The Story:
Day 26: Pray that we will respond to God with praise.
Day 27: Pray that we will hunger and thirst for spiritual transformation.
Day 28: Pray that we would experience deeper relationships.
Day 29: Ask God to lead us to neighbors who need Jesus.
Day 30: Pray that God will bring groups together to share The Story.
Day 31: Ask God for spiritual guidance for our leaders and participants.
Day 32: Pray for a renewed desire to pursue spiritual habits.
Our Story team has created some wonderful ways to get connected to the “backstory” and to one another through new small groups which will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the church, led by some of our seminary students and a Tuesday sermon prep group that will meet on Tuesdays. Be sure to let us know if you are planning to join The Story Study Opportunities.
It is hard sometimes speaking the truth when we know the truth might hurt someone’s feelings or worse and yet the Apostle Paul encourages us to use the truth as a way to build community. This Sunday we will explore how we might follow Paul’s guidance found in Ephesians 4:25-5:2. Join us for worship, praise, prayer and fellowship.
On Saturday, September 12 we will be rooting for our Angels vs the Houston Astros. Tailgating begins at 4:30 PM under the Big A and the game starts at 6:05 PM. Game tickets with tailgating are $25, ticket only is $21 and tailgate only is $4. Fireworks after the game. We have 50 reserved tickets. You may purchase your ticket packages on our web site on or the patio following worship.
Our golfers and duffers alike will not want to miss out on some great fellowship on the greens (or almost greens in this drought) on Sunday, September 27 following worship. Check out our web site for more information and to register for this golf tourney.
In His Service,
Rev. Lissa Smith
