Life can get pretty complex sometimes and when we are paying attention we might learn some good life lessons from others we know. This week a young man who grew up in our community was received into eternal life after a tragic bicycle accident last month, his family’s faith and courage was chronicled on Facebook as hundreds from around the world prayed for his healing. His mom today posted a poignant reminder of how fragile life can be and encouraged us all to hug our loved ones just a little tighter and not put off opportunities to be with the ones you love.
Sunday morning worship affords us an opportunity to be with our family of faith and to make connections that inspire and deepen our faith in Jesus Christ. This Sunday we will conclude our examination of our church’s core values and structure as we explore Paul’s instructions to young Timothy and how we line up our actions with our intentions as presented in 1 Timothy 6:9-19. Sunday morning also provides one more chance to fill up the “pen bucket” that is waiting on our chancel. How might you practice and share your ideas about stewardship as you search for pens in your home and places of work? How can a simple pen become a symbol of the things we might be taking for granted?
Our staff is fired up about all the ways our congregation can get involved in service, outreach and spiritual growth as we have some fantastic events lined up in the next few weeks. This Saturday is our annual Trunk or Treat event for the kids and the community. Join us in our parking lot beginning at 6:30 PM for some spooktacular fun! On Sunday, November 2, following worship we are offering a “Pre-Advent Workshop” in preparation of the holiday season – come find out about new traditions for the season. And on Friday, November 7 at 6:30 PM we are hosting a Spiritual Parenting Seminar that is not to be missed. Dr. Michelle Anthony will be sharing with our community how we can be effective spiritual influences on our younger generations.
