Gusto for Augusto!

I was reveling in the beauty of the day so much that I almost forgot to send out our weekly update!  Good thing I have a reminder on my phone!  Be sure to keep our college/career young adults in your prayer this weekend as a group departs tomorrow for Mexico to build a home and make some roof repairs.  Senor Lupe’s son Danny and his wife are expecting their first child and we will also be bringing gifts for a family baby shower on Saturday.  Blessings from heaven.

On Sunday we will conclude our mini-summer series on the Abundance of God as we focus on an Abundance of Hope based on psalm 146 and Revelation 21:1-6.  We will also be celebrating the sacraments of Baptism and Communion.  What a great way to start August!

Also in August….Feeling nostalgic for the smell of nitro fuel and crazy cycle racing?  Then join the Smith clan at Costa Mesa Speedway on Saturday, August 16.  Gates open at 6 PM and first race is at 7:30 PM. Purchase your tickets at the gate. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+) and juniors (ages 13-17), and $5 for children (ages 3-12), ages 2 and under are free. Costa Mesa Speedway is located at the OC Fairgrounds.  Concessions are available at the track or bring a picnic dinner for tailgating before the races from 6 to 7 PM (we will put up a banner to find us in the parking lot).  At the track you can find us in the back straightaway grandstands near turn 2. Feel free to bring tushie-cushies and stadium blankets as it may get chilly in the evening.

We are planning an all church Angel Game and Tailgate Party on Monday, September 15.  Game time is 7:05 vs the Seattle Mariners.  Cost will be $20 per person for game ticket and tailgate dinner + game goodies!  (Ticket only is $14 for Lower View All Star section).  Join us under the big A beginning at 5:30 PM for tailgating food and fun and then off to the game.

To complete our group reservations we need to have a good estimate of how many tickets to purchase so if you are interested in coming to the ball game with us please contact Joan Coy in the church office ASAP for pre-reservations by email or phone714-637-7660, or sign up on the connect table.  Pre-reservations does not obligate you it is for estimating purposes but anyone who does pre-reserve will have first dibs on tickets.

In His Service,

Rev. Lissa Smith
