WOW!! What an amazing week! Our campus has been jumping with scores of children participating in our Everest Vacation Bible School along with a cadre of volunteers who have been sharing the love of God with these enthusiastic children. Kathie Consalvi and Denise Behle have created a warm and welcoming environment for kids to explore their faith, make friends, and sing and dance to the glory of God. Indeed we are blessed!
The blessing of Vacation Bible School continues on Sunday morning as we will be enlivened in our own faith by the musical leadership of our children. Few things can warm our hearts like the pure voices of our little ones. The message from Mark 6:30-34 has Jesus returning to a ministry of healing and invitation and is echoed in Paul’s words to the Ephesians, 2:11-22 as we are reminded we are all part of the household of God. As testimony to the great invitation to faith we will again be celebrating the sacrament of baptism for 2 of our newest adult members.
Staci Ashby and her family ministry team has been working to plan a trip to Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles and anyone who is interested in learning more about this dynamic ministry that provides hope, training, and support to former gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community is more than welcome to visit with us on Monday, July 27. The visit will include a tour of the facilities, lunch at Homegirl Café and presentations by those whose lives have been restored due to their participation in Homeboy Industries’ programs. Cost is $20 for Metrolink transportation (fun!!) plus some extra for lunch.
Our deacons “Christmas in July” program for Heritage House is winding down and this is the final Sunday to bring your gifts to the Angel Tree table.
We continue to hear great enthusiasm from our parishioners about the upcoming The Story series that begins August 23rd. One of our objectives in sharing this church campaign is to continue to strengthen our ministry with families and sharing support for parents, grandparents and all those who make difference in a child’s life. Check out this promo video from churches who have used The Story to support families: The Story with Families.
