After a long, sweltering day on the pool deck in Norco yesterday watching water polo games I came home hot, sweaty, tired ready for rest. I woke this morning with psalm 121 playing in my head,“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” which just happened to be Bible Gateway’s verse of the day! Recently, I have found myself fervently praying to God to send me a sign, directions, guidance as I seek answers to the daily questions and struggles of life and I have been reminded that my help will come from the Lord through many channels and avenues.
Moses may have not been looking for a sign when he encountered the burning bush but nevertheless it was something he could not ignore nor excuse. God came blazing into his life and became an irresistible force – calling Moses from obscurity into a position of influence and leadership. As we journey further into The Story this week we will examine Moses’ role in the deliverance of the Hebrews from their Egyptian captors and the signs that could not be ignored.
All are welcome and encouraged to join your story to our story as we explore God’s Story through the scriptures. This continues to be an exciting, inviting, invigorating experience for all who have connected to The Story through worship, reading or study. We have something for everyone! Worship every Sunday morning at 10:00; Pre-Game discussion groups at 9:30 on Sundays, Small Groups on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM and a sermon study group on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM at Zito’s Pizza.
Today is a day of remembrance as we recall the unimaginable events that unfolded on September 11, 2001 – a day of terror and heroism, a day that has become a sign for the future and has made an indelible mark upon our hearts. May we all find some way to remember those we have lost and remain vigilant in our pursuit of peace in our time.
It might be hot now but by the end of the month we could be having perfect weather for some fun on the greens! Check out our web site for more information and to register for our annual golf tourney.
In His Service,
