We are bursting through the gates on our new journey! This past Sunday was our first full week exploring God’s holy word through The Story and it proved to be a very exciting and fulfilling week. There is so much enthusiasm, so much desire and passion for a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
This Sunday we continue God’s story through the calling of Abraham and Sarah and how God used them to begin a family of faith that would become the nation of Israel. In God’s wisdom he called Abram and Sarai from the land of Ur to become the founders of a great nation and to be blessings to surrounding nations and tribes. As their relationship with God develops and changes so too their names are changed to Abraham and Sarah and their family tree indeed becomes the root of the Israelites. Through agonizing anticipation and waiting Abraham does become blessed and a blessing to others. I await eagerly for our worship together this Sunday.
Exciting opportunities for discovery and enrichment abound currently with our broad menu of groups and studies using The Story. Please feel free and welcome to join any of these gatherings:
- Small Group discussions every Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the church.
- Sips, Snacks and Study every Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM – we are keeping it “Church in the Wild” for now and will continue to meet at Zitos Pizza in the Vons shopping center.
- Worship Warm-Up – Pre-game the lesson to be presented in worship with a DVD presentation and table talk discussion – Sundays 9:30 AM in the fellowship hall.
Please keep in your prayers this week several families in our church who have lost loved ones and are struggling through loss and pain and grief.
We only have 3 tickets left for our Angel game and Tailgate party and game set for Saturday, September 12. Get your tickets online or following worship on the patio.
Our golfers and duffers alike will not want to miss out on some great fellowship on the greens (or almost greens in this drought) on Sunday, September 27 following worship. Check out our web site for more information and to register for this golf tourney.
In His Service,
