Service & Discovery Trip: Mexico
June 24-26, 2022
Colonia Lazaro Cardenas
Playas de Tijuana, Mexico
“…that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith…” — Romans 1:12
For almost 3 decades, Canyon Hills has been sending teams of youth and adults to build homes, hope and relationship with the working poor families of the colonias of Playas de Tijuana. Will you join us as we continue to serve and care for our sisters and brothers in the colonias?
We encourage our community's high school, college students and adults to attend. Feel free to invite your friends and family members. All team members must apply.

Continuing a tradition of service and a cross cultural bridge building with our brothers and sisters who live and work in the quiet neighborhoods tucked away in the rugged hills overlooking the Playas de Tijuana.
Our mission partner, Futuro del Oro, along with local pastors, mission workers and business owners, will be our hosts for our building teams providing warm hospitality and assistance with materials and local customs.
We plan to construct a modest dwelling for a young family who has no shelter of their own and are living with multiple families under one roof. These “casitas” (little homes) are rustic by our standards but are blessings from God to the recipient families. Waiting lists of families desperately needing shelter and a place to call home can grow long which is why every helping hand is a gift from God.
No construction or carpenter experience is necessary to be a vital part of this building ministry. We provide skilled leaders and knowledgeable guides to help you become a valuable member of the team.

We encourage students and adults from our community to attend. We also welcome your friends and family members. All potential team members must register to be part of the mission team. In the recent past there have been a number of reports of violence in the border areas of Mexico. Our service team leaders carefully monitor the travel advisories and engage in close communication with our brothers and sisters who live across the border on a weekly basis. The colonias we serve near the Playas de Tijuana have had no increase in violence and are well protected and very tranquil at this time. Our service team leaders keep a vigilant eye on the tumult in the region and act accordingly. We would never put our students or leaders in harm’s way if it was determined to be unsafe to proceed with the trip. Please refer to our Risk Plan available on our church web site for more information.
