It is with a heavy heart I begin this week’s update with the sad news that Rich Gates passed away yesterday evening after a long battle with cancer and other neurological illnesses. I spoke with Diane and she and her daughters are working together in this season of grief as they make arrangements for celebrating Rich’s life. As Diane shared with me, “I have lost my best friend.” Dates for services will be announced as known.
And yet even in the midst of pain and loss we share moments of grace and gratitude. This week several deacons and other servant angels delivered copies of The Story to members and friends of our congregation that had not yet picked up their copies. I am deeply grateful for their work this week.
THE STORY officially begins this Sunday!! In worship we will be referencing the first chapter as we reflect in song, prayer and praise about God’s beautiful creation, our fall from grace and the start of God’s plan of salvation beginning with the flood calling us always back into relationship with him and each other. Genesis 2:4-9 will be the focus as we examine the nature of two trees and the impact our choices make.
If you are wanting to explore even deeper into God’s word using The Story we have some great ways to get connected!
- Come early to worship on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM for worship “pre-game” in the fellowship hall to view a short DVD lesson based on The Story with table talk discussion questions.
- Join a mid-week small group on Monday or Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the church.
- Be part of the Tuesday evening study session and sermon prep at 5:30 PM at Zitos Pizza.
