I will admit I have been a little distracted this week, head in the clouds, daydreamer and God has seen fit to flood my imagination, fuel my passion, fill my vision with a wonderful calling for our future. I see God’s presence among us each day – while we worship together in the sanctuary, to our fellowship throughout the week, to the holy and inspired conversations that happen in our office. We are infused with the Holy Spirit and I feel the tenacious desire that our congregation has to follow where Christ leads.
This Sunday affords us ample opportunities to share the wonderful visions and dreams that God is providing with one another. In our morning worship we will explore the many ways God touches us and heals our wounds and makes us ready for service through the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law as told by Mark 1:29-39. And then at 3:00 PM we will celebrate our church family through the installation of Rev. Smith and at the reception following the service. Many clergy and lay members of Los Ranchos and beyond who are dear friends to our congregation will be part of this special service.
Our middle schoolers will be enjoying a special retreat in Big Bear this weekend as they join students from OC and San Diego churches at the Big Bear Conference Center. What a great weekend for a Godly get-a-way!
Don’t forget we have declared this month “Food February” as we host several gatherings with delectable edibles including our “Fat Sunday” Pancake Breakfast on February 15 following worship and our Mexico Mission Season Kick-Off with our patio taco bar on February 22.
I am looking forward to attending the Los Ranchos Presbytery Mission Summit focusing on Families in Mission with some of our staff and leaders on Saturday, February 7 from 8 AM to 1 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Garden Grove. Anyone in our congregation interested is welcome to attend this free event. If you would like to car pool meet at CHPC at 7:30 AM.
In His Service,
Rev. Lissa Smith
